Jeannette Corey (she/her/hers) is the director of the Bank Street Family Center. In this role, she works closely and collaboratively with Family Center staff as well as the broader Bank Street community to create meaningful learning experiences for young children at the center.
Prior to joining the Family Center in 2015, Jeannette worked for 15 years at the YMCA of Greater New York, where she taught pre-K and later served in a senior leadership capacity, providing broad-scale oversight of the YMCA’s early childhood programs throughout New York City. She also spent 12 years working for a community-based organization in the Bronx where she opened a Head Start and then an Early Head Start program. Ultimately, she became the assistant executive director, leading all of the agency’s youth-serving programs with a total enrollment of 5,000 young people from toddlers through high schoolers.
She has the most fun with her two goddaughters, Paloma and Lucia, who attend the School for Children, so she enjoys seeing them at Bank Street every day. She grew up in San Francisco but has lived in New York for many years. She feels so lucky to have close friends and family on two coasts but, if she could live anywhere else, it would be in London!
