Collection Development Policy

Educate

Educate is the publishing platform for the intellectual and creative output of the College community. It is an open access digital repository.

  • Occasional Paper Series (OPS)
    All issues dating back to its inception are published in Educate.
  • Staff Research, Articles, and Book Chapters
    Only those materials that are unpublished, or where copyright clearance has been obtained are published on Educate. Departments have the ability to post research reports or updates to disseminate freely.
  • Center for Children’s Literature
    The annual Best Children’s Books of the Year as well as other lists created by the Children’s Book Committee, award ceremony acceptance speeches.
  • Graduate Student Independent Studies
    From 2012 to the present, and the ongoing retrospective conversion of the rest of the collection. Any independent study that is not copyright compliant or does not meet acceptable standards of quality are not posted to Educate. Each study prior to 2012 contains a note that the author can ask us to take down their study if they do not wish it to be in the repository.
  • Archival Materials
    Any materials that are deemed noteworthy may be added to the repository.
  • Other Materials
    Any other materials that administration or staff find useful to publish on Educate.
