On April 14, Bank Street celebrated its third annual Giving Day, a 24-hour fundraising event dedicated to supporting the College’s enduring commitment to meaningful, high-quality progressive education for all.
Led by the Development & Alumni Relations Office (DARO), the campaign raised a total of $124,848, exceeding its $100,000 goal and welcoming the participation of 201 donors, many of whom had donated to Bank Street for the first time. Contributions came in from all corners of the Bank Street community, including students and families, faculty and staff, alumni, trustees, and friends of the College who support its important mission.
To kick off the initiative, DARO launched a strategic campaign that raised awareness of Bank Street’s current work and its powerful vision for the future, which would not be possible without the continued generosity of its supporters. Bank Street President Shael Polakow-Suranksy, GSE ‘00, noted, “Together, we are learning, building, and strengthening the many communities in which children and adults—in all their diversity and potentiality—interact and learn.”
The campaign also drew special attention to its matching gift challenge funded by generous donors, which doubled all gifts up to a total of $50,000, adding incentive for donations. The success of this Giving Day is a testament to the value of Bank Street’s work to build a better society through education, as well as the strength of community and collective action.
“We are overwhelmed by the response to our Giving Day campaign,” said Jeremy Wells, Director of Annual Funds, DARO. “This outpouring of support will make a huge difference in the lives of the children, families, and communities we serve, and we are deeply grateful to all who contributed.”
Funds raised during Giving Day will directly benefit the Bank Street School for Children, Graduate School of Education, and the Bank Street Annual Fund. This year’s contributions will help Bank Street offer financial aid to students and aspiring educators who need it most, attract and retain top faculty who are experts in the field and thought leaders in progressive education, and enrich our facilities so that students can access the latest technology and other resources for rich learning.
