How Can I?

Use Research Databases

Login Credentials

To login to the databases from home, all you need is your Bank Street email address and the password associated with it. A few select courses will have their own access code (your instructor will let you know). If there are issues with your Bank Street email address, please contact the IT Helpdesk 212-875-4642.

Search Everything

We recommend graduate students and faculty use the Search Everything function on the Library’s homepage. This allows you to search:

  • all the databases that the Library subscribes to, e.g., EBSCOhost and ProQuest
  • the Library’s book catalog.

eBooks

There are two ways to find eBooks to read online or embed into a Canvas course.

  1. EBSCOhost’s Discovery Service
  2. The Library’s online catalog

Please note that eBooks can not be download and must be read online. Nearly all of our books are from EBSCOhost but there are few from ProQuest’s EBook Central. Contact librarian@bankstreet.edu for any issues regarding eBooks.

Find Journals & Journal Articles With a Citation

Finding journal articles with a citation can a challenge but if you:

  • Make sure the Find Journals tab is active
  • Type in the journal name, and hit go

You are half way there! Spend time reading the options you have, quite often you have multiple choices for where your article is located, e.g., print, an EBSCO or ProQuest database.

Individual Databases

If you prefer to search single databases, e.g., Academic Search Premiere, ProQuest, Google Scholar, and ERIC, find links and suggestions on our dedicated Research Database Page.
