Welcome to the Bank Street Library
The Library is home to a children’s collection, a graduate school collection, electronic resources (databases and computers), and an archive. We offer spaces for patrons to enjoy books, and work on assignments. We hope to see you soon on the 5th floor of Bank Street College. The Library is open for graduate school students & faculty, parents, and alumni.
Library Registration Information
Who needs to register: New faculty members, alumni, staff, and parents who want to borrow print books.
How to register: Visit the circulation desk on the 5th floor library to register in person.
Please Note: Graduate students are automatically registered after the add/drop period. School for Children students do not need to register.
Registration allows you to log in to the catalog, place holds, and borrow books. Questions? Email librarian@bankstreet.edu
We recommend using the Search Everything tab in the search box above to find journals, articles, and eBooks for assignments. If you are unsure of how to use databases from home, please view a small collection of 3-minute videos on our Research Tools webpage.
How to Login to Databases from Home
If you are experiencing issues with logging into the databases from home click the link that says Access through your institution.
We recommend using the Search Everything tab in the search box above. Check All filters > Source types > You might have to click +more to see eBooks > click Apply filters.
You can also use the Find Books tab in the search box above. Check Electronic Books (under Collection), or Websites or downloadable (under Format) on the left side of your results page.

The Library has a variety of research options available to graduate school students. Please note that only the research databases require a login.
Book lists and recommendations are located on the Library website, in Educate (Bank Street’s institutional repository), or in a Resource Guide. No logins are required to review resources, and whenever possible we try to hyperlink titles to the Bank Street Library catalog.
Library Summer Hours: Plan your Visit! Good news! The library is here to serve you all summer long with convenient hours designed around your schedule. July Hours: Monday–Thursday: 9:00 AM – 7:30 PM (that’s 10.5 hours of library goodness!). Friday: 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM. August Hours: We shift to consistent weekday hours. Monday–Friday: 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM.
