Our Young Reviewer Says:

In  “Everything I Learned About Racism I Learned in School,” the author Tiffany Jewell discusses heavy topics such as separation of students through prejudice disguised as ‘educational differences’. She touches on how people outside of the school system would never be able to recognize how racially separated schools are. One example given is that special education classes are almost all people of color who have been labeled with a learning disability.

Overall, this book gives the reader important ideas and thoughts about how the school system perpetuates racial discrimination and how students can make efforts towards navigating these challenges. This book is geared to students 14 years or above. This book also inspires me and other young people to be more informed and aware of these inequalities in schools. We should always be questioning how the school system is set up, and this book supports that idea.
