The Children’s Book Committee is looking for some Young Readers to review our award-winning books! If interested send an email with your child’s name, age, and book choice to We’ll send you a Review form and an Interest sheet. Reviews are due April 1.

For young readers is “Lizzie Demands a Seat!: Elizabeth Jennings Fights for Streetcar Rights,” by Beth Anderson with illustrations by E.B. Lewis from Calkins Creek.

In 1854, African American Elizabeth Jennings challenges the seating on a whites-only New York streetcar. Bold watercolor illustrations. Recommended for ages 8-11+.

For older readers is “All Thirteen: The Incredible Cave Rescue of the Thai Boys’ Soccer Team,” by Christine Soontornvat from Candlewick Press.

An incredible international effort led to the rescue of 12 Thai children and their coach trapped in a flooded cave. Endnotes, bibliography, archival photos. Recommended for ages 11-14+.
